Facing away from the shower head, letting the warm water massage my shoulders and back, I draw pictures in the steam and mist on the glass of the shower wall and watch the spray slowly erase them. Standing still helps me avoid the little throbs and stabs of pain that come from age and poor fitness. For a while I close my eyes and enjoy the extra time I gain by waking up earlier than I have to. When I open my eyes again, the words "seen better days" are fading from where I must have written them. I don't remember doing so, but I'm coasting mentally, my mind and fingers conspiring to surprise me. It sounds so mournful, the writing on the wall, but it makes me smile and sigh. I tip my head back into the flow of water. Warm drops run from the corners of my eyes down my cheeks. We are water creatures parched in a dry desert world most of the time. Let us linger in the flow when we can.
Hello, friends. How are you?
Later. Love.
