It is the nature of humans, I am postulating, to absorb and synthesize information. In a primitive, non-technological setting, the capacity of the human mind to absorb and process information vastly exceeds the available input at the surface of reality. Humanity begins to look beyond the surface, to look deeper. There is an abundance of mental energy and a lack of data upon which to consume it. These days, I think, it is very easy to become overwhelmed. I've heard it compared to trying to drink from a fire hose. You open your eyes in the morning with the intention of learning more about the world around you and you end up, before long, on your knees with your eyes pressed shut and your hands clasped over your ears just wanting everything to stop, metaphorically. You have to be careful and selective. There's just too much to know, and it's getting bigger, and even the rate of growth is increasing. What's a monkey man to do?
Unplug me. Give me a club. Face me toward the frontier. Strip me down and set me free. If I make it then, within a few months, after I have learned the basics of survival, I will feel that human thirst for information again. I will long to know how it all works, this fire in front of me, these bones scattered all around, the sun and moon in my primitive sky.
Hello, friends. How are you today?
Later. Love.
