I don't mean to be overly critical, and I know it's a big job, but I was a little unimpressed with whomever painted the sky this morning, at least in this area. It didn't look like a real sky at all. It looked like one of those skies they paint on those PBS shows where they teach you to paint a complete landscape in thirty minutes. In the background they had fired in some mighty cumulonimbus clouds, thunderheads, in a bright white, lit dramatically with sunlight like the clouds in Raphael's Transfiguration. In front of that, however, stippled on as though with cotton balls, was a scattering of rain cloud grey. The combination was too random and uneven, as though the artist had never seen real clouds before. Strange.
But, enough of that. I've got an actual topic. See below for details.
Society has superhero fever right now, if the movies and other movies and Comic-Con and reality television shows are any indication. I don't know why society is so fascinated with superheroes. We're just people, like everyone else. I mean, sure, we have secret identities and powers that make us like gods walking among mortals. Still, we need our privacy. We need our downtime. We don't need the pressure of living up to unrealistic expectations people get from these ridiculous movies which, trust me, are nothing like real superheroing.
Oh, wait. Did I say, "we"? I meant "they". "They" don't need all of that. Sorry for the confusion.
Wait! Look, up in the sky, painted against the sloppy clouds! It's the Scott signal! I must away!
Hello, friends. How are you today?
Later. Love.
