I hope you're well. My new job is good, but it's completely blog hostile. Every blogging site is blocked. I try to get here in the morning to the coffee shop to catch up with you guys, but I've run late for the last few days, so I've had no time at all to visit any of your blogs. I sincerely hope you all still exist and are moving forward, taking time to document these facts for the rest of us. I guess it's a lot to ask when we don't have time to read. Hmmm...
Here are a few quick thougts and facts in no certain order:
- I'm not a fan of chick music in general, but KT Tunstall is amazing.
- Weight loss continues slowly. For the last few days I've been hovering at almost 50 pounds lost. It does that. It plateaus and then starts dropping again.
- Setting aside the web-nazism, the new job is working out well.
- River got his hair cut really short. He also got glasses. He looks a lot different, but he's still a lot more handsome that I ever was. Jerk. He's away breaking hearts at camp this week.
- Wow, this is a really mundane list of trivia.
- I've just completed the multi-day process of downloading GNU/Debian Linux. River and I are going to install it on an old computer we have at the house and I'm going to teach him old school programming. He wants to learn. We're going to start with the really gritty stuff: Assembler code. We'll move on from there to C and C++. From there I'll probably introduce him to Java and web programming. I'm going to do it on Linux because 1) it's free and 2) it's hard. If you can do that, you can easily do the other stuff.
- Here's the second Poem I ever wrote: cosmology on a country road
they closed the particle accelerator
he's not doing well
he's got to know
they said there wasn't enough money
to accelerate
but he accelerates
around the curve, over the small hill
going so fast, the tires leave the ground
he's on the verge of tears
then smash, I think it was a beetle of some kind
he screeches to a halt
gravel and leaves flying
dirt and dust billowing
he takes his spotlight and magnifying glass
fling open the door
dash around, leaping on the hood
trembling, drenched in sweat he looks
for God in the collision
for answers
That's all I have.
Hello, friends. How are you today?
Later. Love.
