Last night was quite an international experience for us. For my American son's birthday, we went with our English friends to a Japanese restaurant and had food cooked right in front of us by a Mexican chef. The food was good. I think his village in Mexico was probably attacked by ninja or samurai when he was a child and, when the attackers found him as a baby, hidden under a large sombrero, their hearts were touched and they took him and raised him as their own. He learned their ways from childhood, and knows all of their secrets.
We're having our traditional neighborhood poker game on New Year's Eve. It's our "Last Resort Party". We spend a ton of money and effort on wine and champagne and food and we open our doors to all our friends who don't have a better offer for the evening. It's almost sad how many people come, but not to us. We have a lot of fun.
You're all invited, of course. We'll have wine of various colors, champagne, Crown Royal, Baileys, soft drinks, coffee and tea. If you require something else to wet your whistle, help yourself (BYOB). Also bring food that tastes good. It can be anything, but you'll only get through the door if it tastes good. We'll have plenty of food already, but it's a principle of the party. No exceptions. The poker buy-in is $10. First place wins 50% of the pot, second place wins 30%, third place wins 20% and every other place wins "JACK SQUAT!" (imagine that said in a Chris Farley, Matt Foley voice). Doors open at 7:30 PM on New Year's Eve. If you're not resourceful enough to figure out the address, we don't want you here. Happy New Year!
Later. Love.
